The first JemCon was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota in July 2005, organized by JemCon founder Elizabeth Pemberton. It was held on the University of Minnesota campus in conjunction with a My Little Pony™ collectors show, and was attended by over 50 Jem™ fans, vendors, and collectors. Jemcon 2005 was a one-day event featuring doll collection displays, panels discussions, and workshops book-ended by social and shopping opportunities in around Minneapolis. The JemCon 2005 fashion was designed by Jayk and produced by Jemgirl.
JemCon 2006 was held in June 2006 in Orlando, Florida, sponsored by Wasabi Anime and chaired by Kristian Allen, and was attended by over 75 Jem™ fans, vendors, and collectors. Also in attendance as special guests were Jem™ animated series voice actors Patricia Alice Albrecht (Pizzazz) and Samantha Newark (Jerrica/Jem). Jemcon 2006 was a one-day event featuring doll collection displays, panels discussions and workshops, book-ended by social and shopping opportunities in and around Orlando. The JemCon 2006 fashion was designed by Jayk and produced by Kim Turkel.
JemCon 2007: Showtime in Chicago was attended by almost 100 Jem,, fans from all over the world, including attendees from Holland and Scotland! The convention was held over September 28-30 in Chicago, and featured special guest Christy Marx, fan panels and workshops, displays which included rare prototypes and custom dolls, a catered Meet 'N Greet dinner, Jem,, Karaoke, and a fantastic Battle of the Bands Masquerade! In addition, the JemCon 2007 Charity Auction raised over $1000 for The Harbour, which provides crisis care for adolescent girls and young women in the Chicago area.
JemCon 2008: Rockin in Los Angeles was attended by over 100 Jem™ fans from all over the world, including attendees from Australia, England, Holland and Scotland! The convention featured special guests Christy Marx, Roger Slifer, Samantha Newark, Samantha Paris, Michael Sheehan, Desiree Goyette, Wally Burr & Darrell McNeil. In addition there were fan panels, workshops, dealers, and displays which included rare prototypes and custom dolls. On Friday there was a catered Meet 'N Greet dinner with an outrageous Jem™ trivia contest! On Saturday night there was a live performance by Samantha Newark and the Jem Jam. The convention continued throughout the evening with Jem™ Karaoke, a fantastic Battle of the Bands Masquerade and disco! The JemCon 2008 Charity Auction raised $1300 for Olive Crest, which provides support for foster kids. Olive Crest is an advocate against child abuse, and are dedicated to preserving families. They have provided care for over 40,000 children and families. The JemCon 2008 fashion was designed by Alon Morris and produced by Jemgirl.
